There are many responsibilities as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department. I have been able to achieve many of my goals during my employment here. ACLS, PALS, and BLS are three of the certifications that I have used everyday in my job. Critical thinking skills are very important in this setting. Rapid triage is necessary to get the most critical patients to the physician as soon as possible. During the past 3 years at Houston Medical Center I have been part of a triage team and have attended conferences on how to recognize true emergencies. Working well together with other staff is also important so the patient gets the best care possible.
